Instrument

All students must have access to a piano or keyboard in their home. Pianos should be kept tuned on a regular basis. Keyboards should have 88 full sized, touch sensitive keys.

Books

The primary books that I use to teach school-aged students are:
  • The Music Pathways Series by Olson, Bianchi, and Blickenstaff.
  • Sometimes I will select Piano Adventures by Faber & Faber for students as an alternative to The Pathways Series.
Both are excellent piano series. They may be purchased on line through Amazon, JWPepper, SheetMusicPlus as well as many other websites.

Every student will learn Christmas music (or an alternative) as we near the Christmas season. I will determine which book is right for each student and place one order for everyone. You may reimburse me when the order is received.

Beginning adult students will also be required to purchase their own books. They should talk with me to determine what book is right for them.

I have a piano library which is a collection of fun books that I own and lend out periodically to students to supplement their regular curriculum. These pieces are a highlight for students as I often let them help to choose which pieces and books they would like to play from.
